Becoming Metamorpho: Rex Mason, a treasure hunter, is inside a recently excavated pyramid in Egypt that had been buried by sand. Inside was a meteor, which was used to make the orb of Ra. Rex’s employer wants the orb, gets it and leaves Rex for dead in the pyramid However, Rex finds himself sealed in a secret room that contains the original meteor. The meteor gives off a lot of heat and light as Rex gets closer and closer due to the earthquake. When Rex wakes he discovers that he has changed by looking into a mirror! (Ancient Egyptians did have mirrors, which were made of a flattened metal surface.(3)) He escapes the pyramid by unconciously transforming into a gas and rising through the cracks in the pyramid stone.
Now that you’re familiar with Rex and his origin, the story moves along at a nice pace. Granted, science in comic books will always be flawed, otherwise we couldn’t get these awesomely powered characters. However, once they have their powers we want some good science happening or a least something that can be logical. Lets take a look at Rex's superhuman physique...
Metamorphic Anatomy! Rex now has 5 different colors of “skin” basically each body region has a different color. Why would this be? I have no idea, this will have to be chalked up to be comic book science (CBS) However, this leaves me the interesting task of figuring out what element is being expressed on each body part! What fun... haha!
