DC's Metal Men 2007

Metal Men are the their elements personified!
How can an element be personified? Dr. Magnus uses a responsomenter, which “talks” to the atoms. There are a couple of ways to think about using the term personify with regard to the atom: Physical characteristics of the element and The way humans use and perceive the element. If the responsometers are talking to the atoms it should reflect more of the physical characteristics. Neither is necessarily wrong for the use of the comic.
First, the leader of the group, Gold!
Physical Characteristics
Gold (Au) is a lustrous transition metal located in period 6. Gold is a soft metal (meaning it is easily bent or shaped) with a high density and is very nonreactive for a metal, which means it is hard to tarnish. There is only one well-known substance that is able to dissolve the metal, aqua regia. Aqua regia is a super acid that is made from a mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids.

How can these traits be personified?
The non-reactivity may translate into being unflappable, which would make for a good leader, or anti-social, which would not make for a good team player.
Being lustrous may mean a bright personality or vein.
Soft metal could mean it has the ability to empathize or just bents to everyone else’s will.
There are two sides that can be taken for each of these. It is clear to me that the writers chose the more favorable traits for the character; we are dealing with a hero.
