First, I want to thank my uncle for gifting me this treasure.
The two issues are packed with science fiction with aliens, time travel, tractor beams and shrink rays. Kids will be impressed with words like polarization and iconic output but these comics are largely science candy.
However, there was some real science. In Diltons' flying atomic scooter he was able to track down aliens that stole his shrink ray using sonar technology. Bats use sonar to help find insects to feast upon. Also, at the end of the first comic Dilton uses some nice chemistry! To make a picture of a person look like they're blushing he puts ammonia on their cheeks, which is a base and then applies phenolphthalein, which is an indicator that turns pink under basic conditions.
It's nice to see Archie using science in comics :)
