SCIENCE REVIEW PART 2 OF 3
PART 2: Powers
Rex’s first use of his new powers was to sublimate from this seemingly organized glob of elements into a light gas, likely helium or hydrogen (since they are very small and lighter than air). We take the leap of faith that it’s possible to turn into this amalgom, however, once Rex has turned what does it say about his powers? If Rex is indeed all these elements arranged in a human shape, then how can he become a gas likely of a single element? This would suggest that he can transmutate matter, which would give him powers on a nuclear scale (rearranging subatomic particals within the nucleus of the atom to make whatever element is desired). This is not suggested throughout the book, so this notion will be pushed aside. So, this must mean that he can personally select which element(s) he wants to be and by ‘magic’ it turns? The only way this ability makes sense in a conventional science context is for him to have nuclear ability. The book does not hint at nuclear ability (and DC already has the nuclear man, Firestorm, so I doubt that have the same power) so there must be some type of comic book science (C.B.S.), faux science or magic thing going on. His powers are from a mysterious meteor so we’ll have to wait to see what kind of alien science explains the root of his power.
Now, lets tear open the pages and look at how Rex uses his powers....
